Wow Google has announced it's Linux OS

Well it has been rumoured for twelve months now that Google was preparing a Linux based web centric operating system to unseat the behemoth that is Microsoft, well it has come to pass.

Read more here :BBC news on Google announcement

and the Google wiki here : Google announce Chrome OS

I can't wait to get my hands on the beta and give it a go.

I think this is a good idea, but to really work they need to be able to sell the business world on there os as well. This will be the hard part as some places have unique software that will only run on a windows based system.

on the home market they need to make it super easy to get and use, good support and ultra compatible.

If they can find a way for you to install windows based apps with out issue, or having to use something like wine then they will grow real well.

but, like you, I can't wait to get my hands on it.

I'm not so sure about the enterprise, as most apps. are now migrating to have a web front end, and putting everything into a corporate cloud , the web client OS makes a lot of sense. We need to get our hands on it and have a play.

Yes you will still need some legacy windows around, you always do, but I think there is a real change coming down the pipe, and Microsoft are definitely not at the heart of it.
